Grot about the soul

The peculiarities of the philosophic views of a Russian philosopher Grot (the second half of the XIX century) on the problem of the soul, correlation of spirit and substance have been considered in the paper. His views on the history of studying this question by various philosophical schools have been analyzed. The author explores the contribution of the scientist in Russian philosophy in the second half of the nineteenth century, the relevance of his ideas for modern science.

N. Grot about place and role of metaphysics in human cognitive activity

The paper considers features of metaphysical period of philosophical views of N. Grot, Russian thinker of the second half of the XIX century. His ideas about the place and role of metaphysics in human cognitive activity have been analyzed. Factors influencing the formation of his ideas, their relationship with the general trend of development of philosophy in the XIX-XX centuries have been pointed out.
